"Ani Ma'amin," is a video installation created as the entrance-way experience at the museum. The opening experience deals with the theme of a symbolic Jewish prayer, which affirms and reaffirms one's belief daily. The sound and meaning of the prayer is intertwined with the appearance of typographical elements reflecting our complex relationship to faith and the existential need to cling to the hope of each new day.
Ani Ma’amin, the Twelve Essentials of the Thirteen Principles of Jewish Faith that the Maimonides wrote, is daily repeated in "morning" prayer, on Saturday and the Good Day after prayer.
Prayer, a discourse praying with God, its face is as the face of faith. Man's standing in front of his creator as an individual and as part of the public is an expression of his despondency to dust and his exaltation to the sky. This dialogue, which alternates between down and up and between real and abstract, is created in an endless process of filling and emptying between creation and salvation - day after day, year after year.
The letters are used as abstract bridal tool for transmitting the spiritual content which is filled with the light associated with spirituality. The light is changing, becoming stronger and broader, filling and emphasizing the inner feelings of the believer. These feelings of enlightenment between creation and salvation are the essence of the Jewish being, and provide the Jew with the hope of continuing to exist every day.
